THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY AND CONTACTED VIA EMAIL. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED...SEE YOU IN THE NEW YEAR!
It's here! Woo Hoo! The Bloggy Giveaway Carnival has come to town!!!
I've got THREE different giveaways going on this week on my blogs. You can check out the other two at: http://www.bloggingwhilewaiting.blogspot.com/ and http://www.elizardbreath8.blogspot.com/.
Now for the details for this one. The handful of you who have been following this blog from the beginning know that it started out with an Ode to Stargate: www.boyiloveolivegarden.blogspot.com/2008/06/why-dont-i-have-blog-yet.html I am still obsessed with the gate, however since that first post I've been able to obtain all 10 seasons of the series as well as the 3 movies. While there's nothing I like better than to sit and watch SG-1 all night long, I know there's gotta be more great shows out there!
So, in order to enter this drawing, you'll need to recommend a great tv or movie series and explain why you like it. Please keep in mind that I don't like shows with LOTS of gore or profanity but have a wide range of interests so don't stay just within the sci-fi genre. I like oldies, 80's...anything, really!
The winner will receive a package of fall goodies! Please make sure to leave your email address so I can reach you if you win!
More giveaways at the Bloggy Giveaways Quarterly Carnival!

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 310 Newer› Newest»I love the Dick Van Dyke show ~ it is humorous about marriage and D.V.D. is a great actor. :) We watch it on Hulu.com once a week or so.
I love Stargate too! We have all the seasons and like to get one out now and then when there is nothing on tv. I really like Lost, Heroes and My Name is Earl.
My favorite show is LOST, it's never too late to start watching it, just get the seasons on DVD. I love the show because of the dynamic between the characters, one week a good guy is good, then the next week he could be bad, or is he working with a bad guy to do something good, it's so mysterious! JJ. Abrams is the producer and he does amazing work!
jennifer.lleras@gmail.com
I love The Office! It's a perfect wind down on thursday nights!
gitrecca (at) gmail (dot) com
How about the show, Mash. It's pretty funny and different from a lot of the current shows out there. Another interesting addictive show is, Lost.
I really like Criminal Minds...I love to try to solve the mystery before they do!
Thanks for such a fun giveaway!
sblilly14(@)yahoo(.)com
how about Mash or Lost? They're totally different genres, but both fun.
We are huge Stargate fans here, too! Love every season, and all the movies! Ahhh...a kindred spirit. Most people just look at us funny when we quote lines from our favorite episodes.
Lately we're enjoying Fringe, although time will tell if it pans out. We like the Dr. and his son, but the main chick, notsomuch.
Thanks for the chance to win!
This would be One Tree Hill.
Its a storyline of high school group to adults now, going through love triangles,murder,abandonment..I just love everything, and the music is great too.

I love House. Why? Well, House's sarcastic humor makes him much more enjoyable. Plus, the medical problems that they have to figure out just makes you want to sit on the edge of your seat!
orchestratenoise0726[at]yahoo[dot]com
I am really loving Fringe.
We really like to watch Lost, Hereos and Battlestar Galactica. Hope you find something that you like!
I'd have to say "Gilmore Girls". The lines they say are so smart!

I'm really digging the "Clone Wars" on the Cartoon Network. I am a HUGE fan of the Star Wars series so when the Clone Wars series came out on the Cartoon Network I was really interested. At first I thought I wouldn't like it but the more I watched it the more I got into it. The people are pretty "odd" looking but I can deal with that. I love the Clones. They are actually FUNNY!! They have witty things to say.
Thank you for a great giveaway!

I like the new shows Fringe and Eleventh Hour. They deal with mysterious phenomena.
the magic of ordinary days is my fav movie. it's romantic without being sappy or dirty. :)
I loved the series of Anne of Green gables. I loved watching Anne be so dramatic and often dreaming. You got to see her as a little girl and then grow up to be a woman. I also love watching Ugly Betty it's a great tv show. Watching her have to deal with people that pick on her yet she remains strong and determined. She helps out everyone and is good spirited person.

We really enjoy BattleStar Galactica. It's got suspense, with some sci fi, and it makes you think. We also really like Smallville. It's interesting to see their version of how Superman became Superman
I TOTALLY recommend The Office! It's dry humor and characters are what makes the show so addictive!
You can watch past episodes on hulu.com, TBS on Tuesday nights, or new episodes on NBC on Thursdays!
Thanks for the great giveaway!

I love Firefly. And Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And Angel. Heck, I love all things Joss Whedon. I love how he develops the characters, and I love/hate his willingness to kill off a favorite character if he thinks it's essential to the storyline.
Thanks for the great giveaway!
My favorite SciFi TV show ever is X-Files.
Dirty, Sexy Money is just fabulous! The cast is incredible.
Also, the new show Life on Mars surprised me - I was prepared not to make it through the first show but have been faithfully tuning in ever since!
I love Monk because it is really unique as TV shows go, and portrays the OCD detective so well!
hurdler4eva(at)gmail(dot)com
Well, I would recommend ER, but they're in their last season. (Boo.)
Hubby and I are big fans of LOST. Just wish it came on more often!
Thanks!

Well this will date me but I just love Dallas.
Especially the first couple of years. It was a bit racy for the 80's but tame compared to some of the ones today.
We used to actually have viewing parties for this show.
We loved rooting for our favorite characters and of course we all loved to hate JR.
southrngal(at)gmail(dot)com.
I love smallville. Its a great show!!! What a great giveaway! Thank you for the chance to win! :)
Oh, you MUST MUST MUST watch Pushing Daisies. It comes on ABC at 8pm EST on Wednesdays.
It's so delightfully different and brilliantly written. The dialog is hysterically funny.
It's very fanciful, about a pie-maker named Ned who can touch dead things and bring them back to life, but if he touches them again they go back to being dead. He brings his childhood sweetheart back, but can never touch her again. Ned works with a private investigator, bringing murder victims back to life to find out who killed them. He also owns a pie shop called "The Pie Hole." The whole thing is extremely colorful... it's like you're watching a fairy tale.
No gore, and it's hilarious.
The cast (Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Kristin Chenoweth, Swoosie Kurtz, Ellen Greene, etc.) is amazing too, they work together really, really well.
It's my favorite show. Can you tell? ;)
We love anything by Joss Whedon. Firefly, the series, and Serenity, the movie. Buffy and Angel. The dialogue is witty and the plots are interesting. We're looking forward to his new show, Dollhouse, in January.
Thanks for the contest!

This may seem silly but I have been watching Major Dad on hulu.com. I'm loving it. I also love The Office
Our family has recently gotten into watching the show Chuck. It has been a long time since there has been something come out that we can enjoy with both our 12 year-old and our 16 year-old without having to worry too much about what might be shown or spoken.

Shogun. Japan is so beautiful. The culture is so subtle. The learning of a few words is so easy.
I like it.
Thanks for asking.
I really like the "oldie" tv classics, Andy Griffith, Bewitched. Plus, I still get a kick out of watching Ma & Pa Kettle. Am I giving away my age here or what? LOL.
LA LAW a quirky court room, law firm tv series, i liked it because it made me laugh and OH how about Night Court a 1/2 hr series, SO funny, i love slap stick humour
I'm really enjoying LIFE, on Fridays on NBC, I think. It's kind of a cop show but with a twist. I also really enjoy Ugly Betty. It's good for a laugh.
MacGyver. I taught me that using reasoning and critical theory can get you out of a jam.
hetz-junk(at)hotmail(dot)com
I've been getting past seasons of The Office from the library. Never fails to make me laugh. Even funnier if you've ever worked in an office setting. Otherwise, my alltime fav movies are Singin' in the Rain and The Princess Bride.

How about LOST? We like to get lost in LOST around here.

Here is one I use to watch and love...I would watch it during one of my nursing sessions with my second child.
"Matlock is an American television legal drama series starring Andy Griffith as Attorney Ben Matlock. The show ran from September 23, 1986 on NBC."
I liked his integrity and that he exposed the truth setting free the falsely accused.
Read more about it and even purchase it at http://www.tvaddicts.tv/movie/mystery/Matlock.html
(I know nothing about the integrity of this website)
enjoy! michelle b.
My DH and I both really like NCIS because it's interesting to watch them solve the crimes. But if I want a comfort show I watch Seventh Heaven or the Waltons on reruns :-)
vmlay@artsci.wustl.edu
let me have my classics, I love Lucy, Beverly HIllbilles, all of the oldies.
My all time favorite series is Charmed. I just love it, all the episodes are good, it is about witches & it lasted 8 seasons so a lot to watch!
well, the profanity and sex would probably scare you off Six Feet Under, but, it is a really good series. The characters are rich and complex and the writers weave their story adeptly.
I've hooked my boys onto the Andy Griffith show. We LOVE watching the old black and white shows!
As for recent stuff, I'm totally stuck on "Amazing Race". It is probably the only way I'll ever get to see some of those places!
This will age me...I love, love Wiseguy. The entire series is not available on DVD, just a few story arcs. I also enjoyed Beauty and the Beast (not sure if it is on DVD)
We recently bought the DVD set of our favorite series "Firefly". It takes place 500 years in the future and we love it because its kind of a cross between Star Wars and Wild Wild West! And the star, Nathan Fillion, is pretty easy on the eyes!
Thanks for the chance to win your great giveaway!

I like a show called "30 Days." It shows different people coming to terms with opposite sides of issues like religion, immigration, etc.
Jennifer, jennem22 at yahoo dot com

My favorite is 7th Heaven. It's not still running but you can catch reruns on tv. You can buy it on dvd though. It is such a great series and I love that they have such a big family. They were always good about talking about good values and morals (especially since the dad is a preacher). Can't recommend it enough!

I really like Ugly Betty. I wasn't sure I would but I rented the dvd's of season 1 & 2 and I love it now! It's actually a really funny show and just good entertainment.
My all time favorite show though is Friends. Never gets old. I still laugh at the same jokes I have seen over & over. That's hwow you know it's good!
My fav sitcom of all time was MacGyver! He was so cute, and he always came up with some kooky plan to save the day with duct tape and a gum wrapper.
I love Malcolm in the Middle! It is so weird, but laugh-out-loud funny!

They actually make my life look sane.
I liked Punky Brewster. She wasn't afraid to be different. And she had a good heart.
I enjoy NCIS, Chuck, Jag (hasn't been on forever). I love The Notebook, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean. Hmmm Can't think of more lol.
We love Stargate too! Two shows that we really like a lot around here are The Amazing Race (the only reality tv show we like!), and The Unit. Both CBS Sunday evening shows.
My family and I adored Lost In Space when growing up. I cried when Dr Smith (Jonathan Harris) died, he was so special to me, he brought me so much laughter. cdziuba@aol.com

kerin0874 (at) yahoo (dot) com
I love watching Ozzie & Harriet; Leave it to Beaver; Andy Griffith; all the old shows that had good family values.
We don't watch much regular TV around here. The only shows we TiVo are The Biggest Loser and the Office. Past series that we really enjoyed are Band of Brothers from HBO, Lonesome Dove, and that is all I can think of right now.
So you love Sci-fi and 80's. My husband and I have been addicted to Smallville because of our love for Superman (in 80's tights). Smallville tells the story of Clark growing up and discovering his powers. Great action and just fun to watch. My other fave DVD series now is Alias. Wish it was still on.

I was absolulty and totally in love with the Gilmore Girls. It is total Chic Lit in the TV form. It is fast tongue chatter and HIlarious!
and am not a chick flick watcher.
I do recommend it. and they have reruns on ABC family, but you might need to know what is going on a bit.
I actually cried when I found out it was not signed for another season.
karissag at gmail.com
My favorite TV show is NBC's Chuck - it's funny, nerdy, and exciting without being too gory or violent.
Gilmore Girls really did have swift and good writing. I am enjoying Samatha Who, which I didn;t expect. We don;t currently have TV, but House is good, and Monk is funny, and Old school Wild Wild West is just campy and ridiculous, but we love it.
My husband and I are hooked on Mad Men, it takes place in the early 1960s and has fabulous clothing and characters!
Thanks for the giveaway!
foxsquirrelrabbit(at)gmail(dot)com
I recommend the original Bob Newhart show with Suzanne Pleshette where he played a psychologist in Chicago
Any CSI....But CSI Miami is awesome!!crime program but it is great!
ahdrad2932(at)msn(dot)com
Heroes-awesome show! And in the sci fi range. Also The Office is hilarious. Off the wall comedy that keeps me laughing.
I loved Moonlighting. It was stinkin' funny and witty, not to mention comical without a laugh track. After that I would day The Cosby Show. That man is hilarious!
i love dexter! its great.. and probably the only show where you're oddly rooting for the killer to prevail.
Thanks for a generous giveaway. I hope I'm the lucky winner.
Ballykissangel - It's set in the irish countryside, has lovable characters and can make you cry.
If you want to go oldies, I Love Lucy is great. I think she is really funny
I'm a huge Stargate fan too! I've always loved the show Outer Limits. Each one is like a mini sci-fi movie and all have great surprise twists.
lisalmg (at) ktis (dot) net
I like old campy shows like Alfred Hitchcock and Dragnet. I'm not much of a TV watcher myself but what I DO watch, I'm very particular about.
There's no gore in old campy shows!
I really like 2 of the new shows, Eleventh Hour and The Mentalist. Some mystery, no gore and cute guys...whats not to like?? Thanks for the giveaway!
Three's Company and The Jefferson's are my recommendation!
A series I've watched lately that I really enjoyed is called SLiders. It is ultra cheesy but also clean and fun with an interesting premise. You should check it out! Hope I win!
I'll tell anyone to watch Coupling. It only lasted on the BBC for 4 seasons but it is so amazing. It's like Friends meets Sex & the City but all the sexual innuendo is much more elegant &... well... British. Its funny, endearing, and yes, sexy. A must watch.
Corner Gas. It's very funny.
me well i like all diffent kind of shows but well one of them is mash thanks
Hubby and I loved Alias! Jennifer Garner always had so many fabulous costumes.
Battlestar Galactica is my favorite series and I'll be so sad when it ends after this season. It really transcends the sci fi genre, with it's character building and relationship plots. I adore it.
Chuck is a pretty good show with humor, action, romance, it's all there.

Three that I would recommend are
-Due South - about a Canadian Mountie in Chicago - funny, heartwarming and I like that they match the Mountie with a city cop, plus there are some elements of fantasy
-Wonderfalls - about a girl who talks to inanimate objects - a hilarious and charming series which got cancel too soon
-The Incredible Hulk - series with Bill Bixby - I like the story line and it is both an action show and also like an adventure, I like that they didn't dumb things down for the audience
Both my husband and I LOVE the show Eureka. The show is on the Sci-Fi channel and it's a mix of sci-fi/drama/romance/comedy, it's a great show! Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite from the 80's was Macgyver. My favorite show in the 90's was Mad About You. And my favorite current show is House. But my all time favorite, stay up into the wee hours to watch was/is Dr. Who!
My all-time favs are MASH, Hogan's Heroes, House and CSI. I haven't watched Stargate, but it seem like I need to check into it! Thanks for the giveaway!

You know the first one that popped into my mind? Quantum Leap. I haven't seen it in years but my sister and I used to LOVE that show (and I will never understand why Scott Bacula was never nominated for anything for the show).
Definitely Burn Notice - it's a great "good guy wins, bad guy loses" show; and I agree, not much for the gore or profanity.
Two and a Half Men on CBS is hilarious. I don't really watch a lot of those half hour comedy shows, but this one's great.
Thanks and Happy Halloween.
gugel98@gmail.com
I really like House. Why? They actually know what they are talking about medically speaking and I find it more realistic and less drama than some of the other medical series on TV.
My husband and I just recently finished watching all of SG-1 and the movies, and I loved them so much! I very much looked forward to each new DVD we got in the mail. We also love watching the re-runs on TV. Even if we've seen them 4 or 5 times before!!
(Now wait, you got me so excited to talk about SG-1 that I forgot to check what the giveaway was for, LOL!)
Some of my other favorites include:
1) The Office - it's just too funny. If you haven't watched it yet, you really should!
2) If you're open to animated... check out Avatar: The Last Airbender. Something the whole family can enjoy!!
3) Something I just finished watching on Instant Play at Netflix: the BBC's miniseries called "North and South". Lovely romantic Austen-like story. You HAVE to watch it.
Although older, I still love Dawson's Creek. It draws me in every time. Gilmore Girls is also a good one.
Well, lately we've been watching "Fringe". It is a new show on TV. The beginnings are always creepy and gory, but the science (fiction) speculation after the first little bit is very interesting and leads to some pretty deep discussions with our kids.
Lalycairn (at) gmail.com
I am so happy you asked this question I am obsessed with tv shows haha well one of my favorites is Pushing Daisies it is an amazing show! It has no gore or anything like that it does deal with death though but it's not anything scary and bloody or anything like that it's a cute show about the pie maker who is in love with his childhood friend chuck it's soo cute I HIGHLY recommend this show it's a great series it just started last year so there aren't many episodes and unfortunately not a whole lot of people seem interested in it and because of the writer's stike the show didn't get much of a chance and they're thinking about cancellng it!! it's horrible! i just hope to god it doesn't get canceled i love it so much! it really is a great show their world is one you will wish to live it it's so colorful and cute the show is pretty darn funny sometimes too
lc_intocable [at] yahoo [dot] com
My current obsessions are Law & Order:SVU, its so much better than the other Law & Orders, The Biggest Loser- cause I wanna be a loser! LOL and Hell's Kitchen, I cant wait for it to start back up!
One of the most exciting series of films by A&E is either Pride and Prejudice or Horatio Hornblower. Why do I love them? Who couldn't? Love, Honor, Kindness, and Cruelty and overcoming all odds.
I loved The Little House on the Praire series, ever since I was a little girl!
thewondermomma @ gmail.com
I am addicted to Dexter on Showtime. It is about a serial killer that has a code which is to only kill murders that have escaped prosecution in the justice system. It is smartly written and a totally different series than I have seen before. Check it out.
I'm not much of a TV watcher because most of the places I've lived have only gotten one channel (not always the same channel, but it does restrict the options). On TV, a lot of the shows I've liked have been things that probably wouldn't work well on video - Rick Mercer's Monday Report, for example, is only funny if you remember what he's talking about, so the shelf life isn't very long in a lot of cases.
One that might not have that problem is the Red Green Show. I like it because for me it's a perfect balance between "those people are crazy" and "I know someone just like that" and because I have a weird sense of humour.
ikkinlala AT yahoo DOT ca
My husband and I love to watch the old "I Love Lucy" reruns. It's great because, my husband is a native Spanish speaker so he relates well to Ricky and understands everything he says. Thanks for the opportunity.
"the big bang theory" Is my favorite show right now... It is a comedy about a group of super geniuses who lack many social skills.
I love stargate too, I am going to suggest Mc Cloud's daughters, it is set in AU and is just great
I am currently obsessed with the office. It is just so funny!! Good stuff.
I love The Office, Heroes, and Gray's Anatomy. They have humor in all 3 of them which I love.
I'm a big West wing fan. And I like the inspiration from top chef
We've been hooked on the "Andy Griffith" show lately - watching the dvd's daily! It is so heart-warming and teaches us all good lessons about life and relationships with others.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I like watching CSI sometimes. Lost is all a good one. I love to watch all types of movies. The movie Twilight will be in theaters Nov. 21st. Although I haven't seen it yet I know it's going to be good the books were awesome. Thanks for the giveaway!
This is an oldie but goodie..MASH. In the space of a half hour they can make you laugh then cry and back to laughing again.
My favorite show is Grey's Anatomy. Though this year, I've added my second favorite show -- Fringe. It's a new show by JJ Abrams (and others) and is about the freaky weird "fringe science" things that could possibly really happen in life. I'll admit, I love it primarily because Joshua Jackson is one of the main people and I love him. But my hubby also loves the show (obviously not for the same reason) and all the friends we've recommended it to love it as well. My hubby loves the character Dr. Bishop who was in a mental institution for 17 years and says some of the most hilarious things as a result of it.
Grey's anatomy is so good. The older seasons made me want to become a dr!
daisy_collections@yahoo.com
This might boarder on the gory side at times but I have to say X-files. That David Duchovany is not bad to watch for an hour or more.
One of my favorite movies is The Green Mile.
Thank you!
janetfaye at (gmail) (dot) com
We love The Unit because it's riveting with storylines of both the soldiers and their wives so my husband and I can both sit and enjoy it.
My son and I like watching DVD's of the original Batman TV series from the 1960s. It has lots of funny puns and is just ridiculous!

Ok, I agree Stargate is pretty awesome. So maybe you will like Earth 2. We found the whole season on netflicks. It didn't make it to another season, but it was still pretty interesting.
My favorite shows are Heroes and Lost. They both have great story lines and awesome actors. Every week I'm on the edge of my seat during the last 10 minutes of Heroes just willing those last few minutes to last just a bit longer.
I love Heroes even though I got behind and haven't seen any episodes this season. There's a lot of twists and surprises that keep me interested in watching. I love the mystery and the suspense.
I love Pushing Daisies! The sets are elaborate, the love story is totally cute and innocent, the colors are fantastic and the storyline is unique and fun!

I love Cold Case. I love the forensics but also the emotional pull that the show has, unlike the CSI shows.

Three's company is my ultimate fave!

Chuck. Gotta watch Chuck.
My favorite television series is House.
I love Dr House's wit and the way that he handles his patients.
Thank you so much for offering this wonderful giveaway.
I would LOVE to win !!
I really like NCIS! It's not gory (like CSI can be sometimes) and I'm trying to figure it out the whole show!

I loved Reaper but I think it was canceled. The only show I find myself watching consistently now is the Amazing Race - I would LOVE to travel to some of the places they go!
I love TLC's 17 and counting. The series about the Duggar family!
We LOVE Pushing Daisies. So clever and wacky.
I love the Amazing Race. I like the different competitions and to see all of the different countries and how the teams adapt to all the different environments.
My husband and I are hooked on Lost and Heroes. We always watch them together...a miniature date night!
I love The Office, because I need to laugh. And I love Boston Legal, because it's so funny with some thought provoking topics thrown in. This year I'm losing Boston Legal and ER, so I will be show shopping next year too.
I love the show "Ugly Betty". It is fun and overly dramatic, just like a telenovela. The camera work is unique and makes it enjoyable to watch. And Betty is just so likeable it's hard not to root for her!
House is my all time fav! I don't usually view much tv but have found time to sit down and watch this. He is a wonderful actor and the show always keeps me thinking! Thanks for the chance to win a nice gift!
If you like sci-fi, you'd probably enjoy my favorite sci-fi show, The 4400. Unfortunately, you'll have to get it on video, too, as it was recently cancelled.
My favorites right now are Bones and House. Bones is a bit gory sometimes- a genius anthropologist and an FBI agent team up to solve murders. The two of them have an odd relationship. House is my other favorite- he's a very unconventional doctor. You never know what will pop out of his mouth, and he seems to put everyone off, yet he's a brilliant doctor.
When I was a kid I loved the "Amazing Stories" series but as a kid, some of them were a bit scary. I've not seen them as a adult, I may have to go looking for them!
Thanks for the chance to win! I'm hthaden at gmail dot com.
Our favorites are Lost and Heroes. There's a new show though, that's become very interesting. It's called Fringe. It centers around a female FBI agent, and each episode is a new case of a weird scientific experiment or situation. I love it because it really pushes the boundaries of what we think science can do. If you like science fiction, you might like it! Thanks for the giveaway!

P.S. I am giving away a subscription to Parents Magazine on my blog, so if you or someone you know might be interested, stop on by! :)
I am in love with the Tenth Kingdom. It is a new spin on some old fairy tales and there is just so much to love about it I can't list it all here. It was a Hallmark miniseries, and now comes in a 3 DVD set. Its very long, so you can watch it marathon style or piece by piece if you can shut it off :)
I'm new to stargate and LOVE the original movie. Haven't caught many SG1 episodes, but we rented the movie Continuum. It was quite good, even though I didn't know all of the characters very well. My DH swears there is another movie prior to the SG1 series but after the original - do you know anything about this?

My husband is addicted to Stargate. Or I guess should say was. I was too upset when it went off! We now watch House

My favorite show, right now, is Battlestar Galactica. I didn't watch it at first, thinking it would just be a lame remake, but it's so beautifully shot and has such a compelling storyline that I was hooked the moment I started watching :D

Farscape. Best scifi show, hands down, followed very closely by Firefly. Both are no longer running so you'll have to do them as a DVD experience. VERY worth it!
